TICA MICE UPDATE

APRIL
2020

MESSAGE FROM

Sumate Sudasna

Across the world, countries have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and Thailand is no exception. With the closing of international borders, the MICE and hospitality industries in Thailand have been hit hard by the absence of tourism. With that in mind, it is more important than ever that we act carefully and collectively in order to mitigate the economic impact of this dire situation, whilst reinforcing our personal wellbeing.

What we do now matters. Our immediate priority is to maximize our efforts while minimizing risks, especially to those near and dear to us. Above all, it is of utmost importance to create and maintain safe and healthy environments for our associates, who, during these difficult times, are like an extended family.

I am very pleased to see that both TCEB and TAT have stepped up their efforts in response to the outbreak. One of TCEB’s most recently launched initiatives is their ‘Virtual Meeting Space’ or VMS. This exciting new enterprise will help MICE entrepreneurs conduct business events online and train and strengthen their employees via virtual platforms. In addition to this, TCEB has been working on a project entitled ‘Simple Ways to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 in your Meetings and Events’, the details of which are outlined in this newsletter.

Meanwhile, the TAT has introduced the ‘Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration’ Certification (SHA) which will be implemented in collaboration with public and private sector partners. This certificate is aimed at elevating the country’s tourism industry standards, in order to fortify confidence among international and domestic tourists.

Now is the time to act confidently and proudly remind ourselves that we all belong to Thailand, a country blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and world renowned hospitality. Like the darkest of nights, these difficult times will soon pass by and we will once again enjoy the brightest of days. Success will see us lifting our heads high, proud to be a part of this amazing country. Friends and members – stay safe and healthy, till we meet again.
