TAT supports TCEB’s Thailand MICE Venue Standard certification

Bangkok – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently attended a publicity event hosted by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to enhance the industry awareness of its Thailand MICE Venue Standard (TMVS) as well as its key role in the development of ASEAN MICE Venue Standard (AMVS).

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT said, “TAT has been aware of the TMVS certification over the years and is very proud that Thailand has been approved by the ASEAN tourism ministers to lead the development of the AMVS. We would like to encourage operators of MICE venues in Thailand to apply for this certification and be a part of helping to upgrade Thailand’s MICE and hospitality industry to an international standard.”

TCEB launched the TMVS certification in 2014 and became the first in ASEAN to initiate such recognition. It also pushed forward a regional standard for MICE venues and received approval at the 43rd Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers to include the TMVS in the 10-year ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (2016-2025) with Thailand, through TCEB, designated to lead the development of the AMVS.

To-date, the number of locations across Thailand that have been certified using TMVS total 453 venues in three categories – Meeting Rooms (397 venues totalling 1,093 rooms), Exhibition Venues (25 venues totaling 29 halls), and Special Event Venues (31 spaces).

Among the TMVS certified venues and establishments are the Dusit Princess Srinakarin Hotel, Dusit Thani Hua Hin Hotel, Sampran Riverside (Suan Sampran), Centara Grand Hotel at CentralWorld and Royal Paragon Hall.

In addition, Thai MICE venues that have received the AMVS certification in the Meeting Rooms category accounted for 33 venues nationwide (as of January, 2019).
