HOW TO CHOOSE A HOST HOTEL
FOR YOUNG ATTENDEES

In order to survive another year, meetings and conventions must stay fresh. And to stay fresh, they’ve got to attract young attendees.

One of the best ways to do that is by choosing a host hotel that will appeal to them. Increasingly, that means choosing a hotel that puts health and wellness front and center, suggests Successful Meetings Senior Editor Alex Palmer.

“According to Spafinder Wellness 365’s ‘State of Wellness Travel Report,’ released earlier this year, younger travelers (aged 49 and younger) ranked wellness elements as more important than older travelers,” Palmer says. “This was true of every aspect of wellness on which respondents were surveyed.”

In particular, Palmer says, look for hotels with healthy food and beverage programs, substantial fitness centers, and onsite activity programs.

“While Baby Boomers (aged 50 and older) pointed to the more traditional luxury spa resorts as their preferred type of wellness property,” Palmer concludes, “Millenials and member sod Generation X preferred eco/adventure resorts and yoga retreats.”
