Bangkok and Chiang Mai recently hosted the transformative Thailand Innovative Meetings Exchange (TIME) 2024, from June 17-22. Organised by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the event drew hundreds of local participants and over 50 international buyers and speakers from 14 countries.
TIME 2024 marked a strategic rebranding, evolving into a platform spotlighting creativity, innovation, partnership, and sustainability. President of TCEB, Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, emphasised TIME's role in addressing economic challenges and delivering increased value and ROI. The event's revamped focus aimed to inspire and engage, showcasing Thailand's MICE sector excellence through Knowledge, Business, and Experience Exchanges.
The Knowledge Exchange on June 17, 2024, at InterContinental Bangkok featured high-level discussions and industry updates across 20 sessions. Key topics included "Rising Stars: Korea and Taiwan Markets" and "Are you Ready for Gen Z As Your Source of Revenue?" TCEB's Meetings and Incentives Team presented its two-year strategic plan to boost Thailand's role in meetings and incentive travel. A session on "Sustainability That Sells," co-hosted by PATA, offered practical advice for incorporating sustainability into MICE proposals. This year's event saw the highest attendance since its inception, focusing on engagement and shaping the future.
On June 18, 2024, the Business Exchange connected over 40 international buyers with 67 Thai companies at QSNCC in Bangkok, and on June 20, 2024, with 33 local operators and community representatives from Chiang Mai at the InterContinental Chiang Mai, Mae Ping. These sessions facilitated valuable matchmaking and deal-making opportunities.
Experience Exchange took participants on an enriching journey through Chiang Mai, a key MICE city in northern Thailand. Highlights included a coffee and cacao workshop at Skugga Estate, a visit to Maesa Elephant Camp, and a farm-to-table BBQ lunch. Participants explored Thai Lanna culture at Pa Dara Phirom Temple and ended with a regal astronomy-style dinner in Bangkok.
