UPDATE

Thailand Eases MICE Visa Access for Global Events

Thailand is positioning itself as a top MICE destination with new visa measures designed to simplify entry for international event organisers and visitors. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), in partnership with key agencies, has launched the "Thailand MICE One Stop Service" to boost the country's appeal as a global MICE hub.

The updated visa procedures include :

  • MICE Visitors (Tourist visa-MICE): 60-day stay, extendable by 30 days.
  • MICE Organisers (Non-immigrant B): 90-day stay, extendable up to one year.
Visa exemptions now cover 93 countries/territories (up from 57), allowing stays of up to 60 days for tourism, business, or urgent work. The visa-on-arrival service has also been extended to 31 countries, up from 19.

Enhanced E-Visa Services

E-visa services are now available at 48 Thai embassies and consulates, with plans to expand to all 94 by year-end. This move aims to simplify and expedite visa applications, making Thailand more accessible.

Technological Advancements and Manpower

The initiative includes new tech and increased staffing to improve entry processes. Automatic passport control systems, backed by AOT, will process four people per minute, double the current rate. The Thailand Immigration System (TIS) and Advance Passenger Processing System (APPS) will enhance identity verification and prevent entry of blacklisted individuals. Additionally, 330 new officers will manage peak times, and AOT's new app will streamline transport services for travelers.

Dedicated MICE Lanes and VIP Services

To meet the needs of MICE travelers, TCEB, AOT, and Immigration Division 2 are establishing dedicated lanes at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports, with plans for Phuket and Chiang Mai, and Udon Thani by 2026. These lanes will streamline processing for MICE groups and offer VIP services.

Government Support and Future Events

This initiative is part of Thailand's strategy to become a top destination for international events. Upcoming high-profile events include the IDF Diabetes World Congress 2025, IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meeting 2026, Global Sustainable Tourism Conference 2026, and International Horticultural Expo 2026. TCEB President Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya stated, "Our aim is to make Thailand the leading choice for global MICE events by simplifying visa processes and enhancing entry procedures."
Thailand's revamped MICE visa services highlight its dedication to becoming a premier destination for international business events. The joint efforts of TCEB, the Department of Consular Affairs, AOT, and Immigration Division 2 showcase a unified strategy to attract and support global travelers, marking a new chapter in MICE tourism.
