SITE Thailand has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with five universities and academic clusters across Thailand, expanding access to MICE education and helping to shape a skilled, globally connected workforce.
As the Thai chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), the organisation is reinforcing its leadership in Southeast Asia's MICE industry by prioritising academic collaboration and talent development.
Over the past year, SITE Thailand has signed MoUs across the Northern, Northeastern, Central, and Eastern regions. These agreements promote integration between academia and industry through curriculum development, student engagement, research, and hands-on learning.
The first MoU was signed with Chiang Mai University in March 2024. In October, agreements followed with the Nakhon Ratchasima Convention and Exhibition Center and CEMBEI (Centre of Excellence for MICE and Business Events Industry) at Khon Kaen University. Two additional MoUs were finalised this year: one with the Central MICE Academic Cluster and Silpakorn University's Centre of MICE and Event Education and Innovation in March, and another with the Eastern MICE Academic Cluster and Burapha University in January.
"People are the heart of MICE," said SITE Thailand President Paula (Punnaporn) Wongjunpen, also CEO of Paula & Co DMC Thailand. "These MoUs represent our investment in the next generation—ensuring they are well-educated, globally connected, and industry-ready."
Through these partnerships, SITE Thailand will roll out a range of activities throughout 2025, including guest lectures, workshops, student programmes, and collaborative research—helping to future-proof Thailand's MICE industry and position it for continued growth.
