After navigating a year marked by softer global demand, economic headwinds, geopolitical uncertainty and intensifying regional competition, Thailand’s business events industry is demonstrating a resilience that sets it apart. As 2026 approaches, the Kingdom is not merely recovering—it is repositioning itself as one of ASEAN’s most dynamic and dependable MICE destinations.
Thailand’s renewed momentum will be anchored by a strong calendar of world-class international events, underscoring its proven capability to host complex, high-profile meetings at the highest global level. Two landmark events in Bangkok will serve as defining moments for the year ahead.
From 12–18 October 2026, the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings will take place at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Bringing together finance ministers, central bank governors, global policymakers and institutional leaders, the meetings will place Thailand firmly at the center of global economic dialogue. Beyond their scale, the meetings represent a powerful vote of confidence in Thailand’s infrastructure, organizational expertise and diplomatic credibility as a host nation.
Just weeks earlier, from 14–17 September 2026, Bangkok will welcome Gastech 2026 at BITEC. As the world’s leading energy exhibition and conference, Gastech convenes global decision-makers to shape the future of energy, sustainability and innovation. Hosting this influential platform reinforces Thailand’s growing role in the global energy transition while delivering significant economic and knowledge-based benefits to the local ecosystem.
Complementing these flagship events is a more assertive and targeted national strategy. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have joined forces under the “Thailand Power Up” campaign to accelerate recovery and drive long-term growth in the premium MICE segment. Running through mid-2026, the initiative focuses on both short- and long-haul markets, offering tailored incentives, international roadshows and the co-hosting of inVOYAGE Global 2026 in Thailand.
The campaign is projected to attract more than 65,000 MICE travelers and generate approximately THB 4.29 billion in revenue—clear evidence that confidence in Thailand as a business events destination is firmly returning.
Looking ahead, 2026 stands as a year of recalibration and renewed ambition. By combining strategic partnerships, global-scale events and a resilient tourism ecosystem, Thailand’s MICE industry is poised not just for recovery, but for a stronger, more competitive future on the world stage.
