Phuket Secures Three Major Global Conferences for 2026

Phuket is preparing to step into the global spotlight after securing the hosting rights for three major international conferences in 2026. Backed by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), these high-profile events—the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference (GSTC) 2026, the InterPride World Conference 2026, and the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) 2026—will reinforce the island's growing reputation in sustainability, inclusivity, and wellness tourism.

The year will begin with GSTC 2026, taking place from 21-24 April at the Royal Phuket City Hotel and Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town. This will be followed by the InterPride General Meeting and World Conference from 28 October to 1 November at Duangjitt Resort and Spa. The year will conclude with GWS 2026, held from 10-13 November, supported by the Ministry of Public Health and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Together, the three conferences are expected to attract approximately 2,100 international delegates, generate an estimated economic impact of 351.4 million baht (approximately US$11.3 million), and create around 484 local jobs. These figures highlight the growing role of Business Events as a driver of economic growth and regional development.

Supawan Teerarat, President of TCEB, noted that Phuket's success in securing these events reflects the island's ability to host world-class conferences beyond the capital, while aligning with regional branding and long-term development strategies. Phuket's credentials are further strengthened by its partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to advance Sustainable Development Goals through 2030, along with its role as a pilot city for biodiversity conservation — key factors in winning the GSTC bid.

Meanwhile, hosting InterPride 2026 is supported by Thailand's landmark equal marriage legislation and progress on gender recognition, highlighting the country's commitment to inclusivity. The Global Wellness Summit also complements Thailand's national strategy to position Phuket as a leading international medical and wellness hub.

Suwit Phansengiam, Deputy Governor of Phuket, emphasised that Business Events are instrumental in driving high-value economic growth, benefiting local businesses and communities while elevating the island's global profile. He added that hosting these landmark conferences will help attract investment, stimulate sustainable development, and reinforce Phuket's standing as a premier destination for global Business Events.
