BITEC reaffirms MICE lead in Thailand

Two new certifications by TCEB exemplify venue's position to welcome organisers "back to normalcy".

The Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) has received the Thailand MICE Venue Standard (TMVS) award for the sixth year running, in addition to joining the Kingdom's MICE Hygiene campaign as part of moves to welcome organisers "back to normalcy", following Thailand's international reopening on 1 November.

Introduced in 2014 to accredit business venues that have met international standards in safety, technology, service, and environmental management, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau Public Organization (TCEB) has plans to assess at least 155 venues for TMVS across the country in 2022.

This is on top of 194 venues nationwide as TMVS-certified venues — of which 10 are exhibition premises, 15 are special event venues and the rest hotels, as recorded at 26 August's 'MICE Standards Day 2021'.

“Since 2015, we have been awarded certification badges by TCEB. The awards demonstrate our efforts to develop the centre. This year, we received two awards for our meeting rooms and exhibition halls. These exemplify our willingness to welcome organisers and visitors back to normalcy," said Chakkrin Angprateep, Sales Director, BITEC.

These said efforts extend also to Covid-safe measures, such as BITEC's participation in the Kingdom's MICE Hygiene programme — which details protocols for pre- during- and post events.

BITEC's Managing Director, Panittha Buri said, "BITEC has always followed the government policies to prevent the spread of Covid-19 strictly since the first wave in 2020. Apart from strengthening measures and adjusting the service requirements to be in line with the current policy, BITEC has requested employees to participate in online training sessions on hygiene and service quality control to ensure the safety of exhibitors and visitors."
