The AP Thailand and SEAC Creative Talk Conference (CTC) 2020 took place on the 19th of January at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) and saw thousands of people in attendance, many of whom were young professionals working in diverse industries. This marked the 10th time that the conference was held over the last six years.
This year, the much-anticipated event was centred on the topic of Trends and Conversations of the New Decade, reinforcing the idea that as the world continues to change rapidly, it is essential that businesses keep tabs on industry trends in order to stay ahead of the competition. There are numerous factors in place that have impacted the way business is conducted and how MICE events are planned, including ever-evolving technology and innovation in the areas of data analytics.
This year, the conference featured six different stages, as well as two workshop rooms that were set up to encourage engaging question and answer sessions. As the conference’s core goal is to function as a knowledge sharing platform, over 90 speakers from various industries shared their insight and professional advice in 50 informative sessions.
These sessions, which took the form of content presentations, fireside chats, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, covered the areas of creativity and design: like animation, computer graphics, and interactive design; topics about innovation such as artificial intelligence, big data and data analytics; marketing strategies like branding, digital marketing, and marketing strategy; entrepreneurship concepts encompassing business planning, eCommerce and SMEs; people-centric topics like human resources, optimising productivity, and time management; and much more.
Some notable highlights from the conference included a special panel titled Festivalisation: The Next Big Thing in Live Events, which discussed how the emerging trend of festivalisation is changing the way events are orchestrated to target the millennial generation. Other panels focused on the topics like the Secret of Storytelling, which provided an overarching discussion about how stories can create value in a business; What’s next in UI / UX; and Podcast, the End of Hobby, that discussed how businesses can use podcasts to their advantage and what’s in store in terms of trends in 2020.
Moreover, the conference also saw the first edition of the Creative Talk Awards that recognised individuals working in the creative field for their work towards creating sustainable businesses and a wider sphere of influence. The categories of awards included the Social Change Award, Mindshift Award, and Innovation Award.
