On 8 November 2016, the biggest MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) event yet took place in Xiamen, Fujian, China. A total of 15
student teams from distinguished universities representing 10 countries, competed in the ASIA MICE Challenge 2016, organised by the Asian Federation
of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AEFCA). The event aimed to develop raw, young talent in the MICE industry. The participants competed to convince
the judges that their country or area is the ideal MICE destination in Asia.
Two teams from Thailand took part in the Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2016, from MaeFahLuang University (MFU) and Siam University. Both teams performed exceedingly
well, and received the Special Recognition Award.
The Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) and the Korea MICE Association (KMA) have teamed up to promote the growth of the MICE industry in Korea
and Thailand with the aim of contributing to their respective economies and the enhancement of international goodwill and cooperation. The two organisations have
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the education and training of MICE professionals and reinforcement of business platforms for the
development of the MICE industry.
They will assist education and training of MICE professionals by inviting members of each other’s association to attend respective educational meetings and sessions and
internship programmes. Furthermore, the two parties will send speakers to each other’s events for MICE meetings.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Eung Su Kim, President of KMA and Mr. Sumate Sudasna, President of TICA, during the annual Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Asia
(IT & CMA) exhibition held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre on Tuesday, 29th September 2016.

The IMEX-MPI-MCI -IT&CMA Future Leaders Forum (FLF) 2016 that occurred from 29th to 30th September 2016 was supported by TICA. The FLF aims to inspire the brightest students to join the MICE industry. University students who are currently studying tourism, event management and other related business and administration studies were invited to participate in a one-and-a-half-day workshop that included a visit to the IT & CMA exhibition. The 60 students who were selected to join the forum were able to gain valuable insights and guidance on the industry career paths available from a number of highly competent industry speakers who spoke at the FLF. The student who won the grand prize will receive an opportunity to attend IMEX 2017 in Frankfurt, Germany next year, during 16 - 18 May 2017.
