ACTIVITIES

On 8 November 2016, the biggest MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) event yet took place in Xiamen, Fujian, China. A total of 15 student teams from distinguished universities representing 10 countries, competed in the ASIA MICE Challenge 2016, organised by the Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AEFCA). The event aimed to develop raw, young talent in the MICE industry. The participants competed to convince the judges that their country or area is the ideal MICE destination in Asia.

Two teams from Thailand took part in the Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2016, from MaeFahLuang University (MFU) and Siam University. Both teams performed exceedingly well, and received the Special Recognition Award.

The Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) and the Korea MICE Association (KMA) have teamed up to promote the growth of the MICE industry in Korea and Thailand with the aim of contributing to their respective economies and the enhancement of international goodwill and cooperation. The two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the education and training of MICE professionals and reinforcement of business platforms for the development of the MICE industry.

They will assist education and training of MICE professionals by inviting members of each other’s association to attend respective educational meetings and sessions and internship programmes. Furthermore, the two parties will send speakers to each other’s events for MICE meetings.

The MOU was signed by Mr. Eung Su Kim, President of KMA and Mr. Sumate Sudasna, President of TICA, during the annual Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT & CMA) exhibition held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre on Tuesday, 29th September 2016.
