Career Advisory

TICA’s Services Development Committee arranged a “Career Advisory” event at Khon Kaen University on 24th November 2016. Students received valuable career advice and guidance from TICA presenters; ChooLeng Goh, Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien, and Fi’ci, Le Meridien Bangkok; Teerapat Kieangthong, Idext MICE and Travel Agent; Premporn Saisaengchan, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and N.C.C. Management &Development Co.,Ltd.. and Boontawee Max Jantasuwan, ETA - Events Travel Asia Co., Ltd. The students rated the event very highly and were pleased to have received expert advice on taking up a career in the Business Events Thailand (MICE) Industry.

TG Australia Fam Trip

Thai Airways International PCL. Head Office Melbourne office brought five leading groups and business event bookers to Thailand for a two-night educational visit in Bangkok on 8 November 2016 TICA arranged a business networking event for the Australian bookers to meet Thasuppliers. Prior to a dinner at The St. Regis Bangkok, TICA members met the MICE planners and had an opportunity to ask questions during a panel discussion. Here are the takeaway points from the panel:

Top 3 competitor destinations to Thailand: Bali, Vietnam and Fiji.

3 things Australians need: Cold beers (very cold), really good coffee station and free WiFi throughout the hotel.

3 popular destinations in Thailand: Phuket and Bangkok remain evergreen most-popular destinations. Chiang Mai is also on the radar.

Fast track at immigration – the airport VIP service provided by TCEB for the fam trippers made a massive impression Thai food… but not too spicy. Hotels that offer meeting space with natural daylight. The biggest challenge for a destination or a supplier?

Response times. Keeping in view the short time difference between Australia and Thailand, planners need same-day replies as their corporate clients are pressing them for “immediate” answers.

TICA AGM for next year

As is customary, TICA will be hosting its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, 31 March 2017 and the venue will soon be advised. Since the current Board of Directors have completed their 2 year-term, a new Board will be elected at this AGM.
