BANGKOK - The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has launched a new 'I M PEOPLE FOCUSED' campaign based on feedback from the first customer care update sent on 3 April 2020.

The campaign is underpinned by 'EASE UP' which gives event organisers access to US$500,000 worth of financial support from TCEB and an equivalent value in free products and services from participating partners.

TCEB global teams are ready to assist with individual enquiries for those considering organising events in Thailand be it domestic or international once the country re-opens its borders. Mr Sumate Sudasna, Conference & Destination Management (CDM), managing director, called it 'a work in process' that involved the coordination of the Thai Government and most important the Ministry of Public Health as Thailand now has gone 25 days, as at press time, without a single community-based COVID-19 transmission. Even so Mr Sumate said the initial focus would be on domestic events in secondary destinations around Thailand that are open without quarantine restrictions.

"The hope is to kick start domestic events upcountry were organisers can petition local governments to hold events of more than 200 people from different organisations, if it receives approval from relevant local authorities.

"There is a huge pent up demand for people and organisations to meet so once details are finalised, I expect things could move quite quickly," he added.

TCEB was not able to provide further information on who would be eligible for the grants, when they would become available or how to apply, but representatives did expect the information to be forthcoming in the coming weeks.

Ms Nichapa Yoswee, TCEB's senior VP - Business, said: "TCEB is ready to support your return to Thailand with 'EASE UP' which is a collaborative financial grant that we created with over 60 industry partners.”
