TICA MICE UPDATE
Vol: 33 May - June 2015
A Message from Sumate Sudasna, President of TICA
Welcome to the June edition of TICA’s newsletter. As president of TICA I am pleased to see that the Thai MICE industry is gaining so much momentum lately, as both TCEB and TAT have combined their resources to step up and organise more familiarisation trips to Thailand. I am certain that this drive will pay untold dividends, with an increase in event confirmations in the near future. Isaan, Thailand’s northeast, was one of the areas promoted during a recent FAM trip, and it is with this in mind that our newsletter is highlighting the Northeastern region province of Khon Kaen in this edition’s Destination Showcase. Meanwhile, Thai Airways International (THAI), our national flag carrier, has also been playing a significant role in promoting MICE to the kingdom, by offering event organisers special benefits and tremendous support.

On a more serious note, it’s assuring to all that by being fully prepared, Thailand was able to have contained the only case of MERS virus reported within the kingdom thus far. The initiative started by the Prime Minister, and implemented by the Ministry of Public Health, established quarantine and special care systems for those infected with MERS, following the advice of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Finally, I must say it’s exciting to see the progress that TCEB's MICE Capabilities Development Department is enjoying. With the aim to cultivate a passionate, new generation of professionals, armed with knowledge management, networking, and marketing expertise, this valuable programme is leading Thailand's MICE industry into a promising future.
