Welcome to the May - June edition of TICA’s News Update.
Thailand’s MICE sector has seen healthy growth in the first half of the year. TICA is working together with TCEB in promoting Thailand as the ideal MICE destination, leading to encouraging results. Thailand has recently been rated as the most preferred MICE destination due to its unrivalled hospitality, exceptional value for money, excellent local and international cuisine, as well as the country’s large variety of MICE activities.
In this issue of TICA’s MICE update, we showcase Khon Kaen as an upcoming MICE destination. We are also continuously trying to promote such secondary destinations through creative and original strategies. A great range of hotels and convention centres with varied capacities make Khon Kaen an ideal location for events of all sizes. What’s better is that the city also emerged as the winner of IBM’s Smarter Cities programme for developing MICE promotional strategies.
Furthermore, the industry is working towards the goal of building a complete MICE Ecosystem in Thailand in various ways. The plan includes increasing Suvarnabhumi Airport’s capacity. Airports of Thailand (AoT) has approved an investment budget for expansion, and construction is expected to begin next year. TIME 2018, a key activity organised by TCEB for MICE entrepreneurs, aims to create business opportunities and update market insights from long haul markets of high-value. To further enhance the tourism drive, TAT has officially launched the “Shopping and Dining Paradise 2018” campaign to encourage local and international visitors to take full advantage of the various promotions during this season.
Finally, as we are working on successfully completing TICA’s MICE Guide to Thailand 2018-2019 edition, TICA would like to encourage its members who have not yet signed up yet to consider doing so.
