Big Events to Boost Thailand’s Tourism in Final Quarter

Thailand is gearing up for a vibrant final quarter, with a goal of attracting 12 million international visitors between September and December 2025. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) expects these arrivals to generate around 580 billion baht in revenue, supported by a line-up of world-class festivals and events.

According to Nat Kruthasoot, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business, the high season will be driven by major cultural events designed to inspire travel and spending. The festivities begin in October with the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025, highlighting the close cultural connection between Thailand and India. Taking place at Khlong Ong Ang (16–20 October) and Phahurat (18–20 October), the event will feature Bollywood-inspired parades, Thai-Indian performances, and illuminated city landmarks. It is expected to attract 100,000 visitors and generate more than 200 million baht, further strengthening the growing Indian market, which has already seen 1.8 million arrivals this year.

In November, the Maha Loy Krathong World Event 2025 will continue as planned, showcasing Thailand's iconic festival to the world while observing appropriate tributes to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The celebrations in Sukhothai (27 October–5 November) and Ayutthaya (1–5 November) will proceed, welcoming an estimated 450,000 visitors and generating approximately 800 million baht. "We aim to position Maha Loy Krathong as a global intellectual property of Thailand, following the success of the Maha Songkran brand," said Nat.

Similarly, other major events will also proceed as scheduled, with adjustments made to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. These include Vijit Chao Phraya 2025, a spectacular light and sound show along Bangkok's Chao Phraya River (1 November–15 December), expected to attract 1.5 million visitors and generate around 500 million baht. The Amazing Thailand Marathon 2025 on 30 November will welcome 36,000 participants, while the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2025 will ring in the New Year nationwide, led by celebrations in Chiang Mai, Phayao, and Bangkok.

Looking ahead, TAT plans to continue building momentum with Maha Songkran 2026 at Sanam Luang, reinforcing Thailand’s position as a world-class festival destination and driving further economic growth into the next year.
